Ah, the good old days, when a scriptwriter could make fun of Democrats in the movies and still find work afterward. These days that writer would have been subjected to industry-wide prejudice and scorn that’s hardly different from McCarthyism. Of course, today’s discriminatory scorn is different. It is quite a bit scarier when your government is gunning for you than when your peers are gunning for you. But oh how much better and more original today’s Hollywood movies would be if it weren’t a one-party town…
